Austin Yoder, a beloved member of the Stone Creek community, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 25, 2023. His untimely death has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who knew him. Austin’s vibrant spirit and passion for life will be deeply missed.

Death and Background

 

Austin was born on October 30, 2009, in Dover, Ohio, to his loving parents, Leon Yoder and Amy Mizer Yoder. Tragically, Austin’s life was cut short at the young age of 14. His sudden passing has left his family and community in shock and mourning. While we may never fully understand why such a bright light was taken from us, we can find solace in the memories we shared with Austin.

Education and Community Involvement

Austin was a student at Ridgewood High School in West Lafayette, where he was known for his dedication to his studies and involvement in various extracurricular activities. He was an active member of the Progress Valley Grange, Ridgewood FFA, and the Progress Livestock 4-H Club. Austin’s commitment to his community extended beyond the classroom, as he was also an active member of the Salem Evans Creek Lutheran Church in Stone Creek. He had a true passion for tractor pulls and cow shows, which brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek will be open from 4-8 p.m. for visitation. Additionally, on the day of the funeral, Thursday, November 30, 2023, the Salem Evans Creek Lutheran Church will open its doors for visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This will allow those who were unable to attend the previous visitation to pay their respects and offer their support to the Yoder family before the funeral service begins.
