Fox Host Arrested on Child Exploitation Charges Raises Outrage

Matt Vereen, 28, a weekend anchor and sports reporter for WACH Fox 57 in South Carolina, is facing serious allegations with his recent arrest on multiple charges relating to child pornography and child exploitation.

On Wednesday, law enforcement officials apprehended Vereen and filed three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor against him. This arrest took place following the discovery of a photograph on his laptop depicting a child in a ‘sexually explicit state of nudity,’ as detailed in the arrest warrant.

In this disturbing image, a young girl was reportedly posed with her “legs spread” while her genitals were visible “through sheer see-through panties,” according to the court documents. Additionally, it stated that “her right nipple can also be seen through a white see-through top,” emphasizing the severity of the allegations.

Investigators linked Vereen to these activities through various digital records, including those from Gmail, Apple, Internet Service Providers, and other sources that remain undisclosed.

A subsequent warrant revealed that Vereen had solicited a one-minute and 32-second video of an underage girl, alongside a similar request for another video lasting one minute and 26 seconds.

Vereen’s professional background shows that he has been a member of the WACH FOX 57 team for nearly three years. Before that, he served as a news anchor for KOLR in Springfield, Missouri, showcasing a promising journalistic career that now faces severe challenges.

After the arrest, Alvin S. Glenn Bond Court spokesperson informed the local outlet Wis10 that Vereen was assigned a substantial $40,000 cash surety bond. Furthermore, conditions attached to his bond restrict him from accessing personal internet, using social media outside his work hours, and having contact with minors unless supervised by an adult.

Should he be found guilty of these charges, Vereen could face up to 30 years in prison, a stark reminder of the legal repercussions tied to child exploitation offenses, which continue to raise alarm within communities across the nation.
